Q&A for Financial Tracker

I got a few queries regarding the Financial Tracker which I posted a week ago....

Can I rename the tabs?
Yes, of course! All you need to do is double click the bottom of the sheet, eg 'transport' and change it to whatever you want it to be. You also have to change it in the title box, below the box 'Expenditure sheet 2008'(i.e. 'Transport' to whatever) which will then automatically be reflected in all the other boxes on the cumulative overview screen!

How do I enable Macros?
Basically, in Excel, go to Tools>Macros>Security and turn your security level to medium, which would lead to a prompt screen appearing each time u open the file, and click enable so that the pie charts and buttons will work.

If you need a better detailed instruction, you can find a really well written one here, with pictures and all!

What is macros? Would it work if it is not enabled?
Macros is just an automated action that has been preprogrammed to do various things. Like switching from month to month using the drop down menu to look at individual month expenses and the buttons that get you from sheet to sheet.

The financial planner would still work, however, the cool stuff like the short cut buttons and filters wouldn't work.

Why do I get error boxes in my tables?
A few reasons... firstly, you probably did not enter the numbers in a way that excel understands. i.e just numerical, no symbols $/USD/SG/RM, and when adding individual numbers in a box, you have to type "=2+3+4"
Another reason would be clearing a box of its value after inputting a number leading to "#DIV/0!", easily resolved by setting the value to '0'.

What do the notes button and other buttons do?
They direct you to the respective sections. Notes is a section where you can write down a description of you particular expenditure so that you can have a reference when you want to decide how to cut back and plan your expenditure.

Acknowledgment: Many thanks to Ms Elisa Arumugam for her kind feedback and testing of the spreadsheet.
